ICT & COMPUTING: Implementing Technology Competencies for the 21st Century

WHAT’S NEW? WHAT’S DIFFERENT? WHAT’S BEST? WHERE CAN WE FIND THEM?

The DIOCESAN SCHOOLS of DIPOLOG, (St. Vincent’s College, RMI of Dapitan, Saint Estanislao Kostka College of Manukan, Colegio de San Francisco of Rizal and Saint Joseph College of Sindangan) are offering new sets of Technology for the Basic Education Level (from Kinder to Grade 12), the ARALinks TEACHnology and DIGITANS & TEKHIGH COURSEWARE.

Here in Dipolog City, beginning this school year, 2018-2019, the Basic Education level of St. Vincent’s College Incorporated, i.e. from Kinder to Grade 12, employs and integrates Instructional and Technology enhancement to better equip and prepare the young learners for the 21st century brand of education.

St. Vincent’s College Incorporated introduces the ARALinks TEACHnology and DIGITANS & TEKHIGH COURSEWARE technologies to ensure competitiveness among our students starting in the Kinder up to the Grade 12 levels.

ARALinks TEACHnology is an instructional or educational technology program for enriching skills, knowledge and understanding of appropriate pedagogy and technology in instruction. By way of equipping teachers with necessary tools for instructions, and by providing Teaching and Learning resources, following the DEPED Curriculum Guide but enhanced, the learners are directly benefitted and assured of their competencies and learning in order for them to be relevant in this highly globalized context. AFTER ALL, everything redounds on PEDAGOGY (art and science of teaching and refers to the styles and methods of instruction used in the teaching profession, including grading practices, assessment, and instructional strategies.) We may have all the facilities and buildings but poor in teaching, we are still not hitting our aim in education.

DIGITANS & TEKHIGH COURSEWARE is the computer and information technology-related curriculum and program, also following the DEPED Curriculum Guide but enhanced. With this technology, the ICT curriculum of SVC is now strengthened as early as Grade 1 up to Grade 12, using a spiraling program. This technology will enable students to adopt more critical framework and skills in ICT, equipping them with professional and real-world skills and helping them to become active and responsible members of society. To be effective in the 21st century, citizens and workers must be able to create, evaluate, and effectively utilize information, media, and technology. This is what we are aiming for our learners.

Embarking on these new trends and technologies, we may be worried of the additional expenses it would take. But as the dictum says, “IF YOU THINK EDUCATION IS EXPENSIVE, TRY IGNORANCE” by Derek Bok.

Parents cannot just afford to see their children go down to deterioration and irrelevance in the course of educating them. So why settle for what is good and better when BEST is available and achievable. Let us give them the BEST by choosing what is BEST FOR THEM. We owe it to them.

We are still accepting enrolment in the K to 12 levels. For more inquiries, please see the Elementary and Junior High School Principal, Fr. Simplicio “JUN” Lomarda, Dr. Rosalinda C. Baloria, Senior High School Principal or the Registrar’s office.

And for other schools mentioned above, please see the Elementary, Junior and Senior High School Principals or the Registrar’s office.
